Classic UniCamp

UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded not-for-profit organization that links the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 under-served youth from low income families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 350 student volunteers, to its week long residential outdoor summer camp.

UniCamp's classic camping program is staffed by UCLA student volunteers who volunteer a week of their summer to counsel and assist our campers. We hold a 1 to 3 ratio of UCLA students to campers. Each session (week) of camp has its own unique outcome statement developed by its volunteer leaders.

Founded in 1934 and deemed the official charity of the students of UCLA since 1948, UniCamp is UCLA’s longest-running tradition. UniCamp is the nation’s largest university based camp and is one of the oldest student organized charities in the country.

UniCamp’s student-volunteers are hand selected and go through over 100 hours of training and months of fundraising before the first day of their week at camp. Although there is a small professional staff and a Board of Trustees that help in the over-all operations of UniCamp, the students are the heart, the soul and the backbone of the program.
