Helping young adults realize their potential to become active leaders by fostering
both personal and community growth through service learning.
UniCorps is a branch within UniCamp. UCLA UniCamp is the official student charity of the University of California, Los Angeles. UniCamp operates as an independently funded non-profit organization linking the University with the community. Each year, UniCamp inspires nearly 1,000 children from low-income families to envision brighter futures by sending them, along with 350 student volunteers, to its residential outdoor summer camp.
Founded in 1934 and deemed UCLA's official charity since 1948, UniCamp is UCLA's longest-running tradition. UniCamp is the nation's largest university-based camp and is one of the oldest student-organized charities in the country.
For some time, UniCamp operated with campers ages 10-17 participating within the same types of programming and activities.
UniCorps was founded on the idea that age specific programming and activities would be much more appropriate and productive. UniCorps began 4 years ago in the summer of 2004.
UniCorps focuses upon leadership, service learningand educational awareness. It is very much a young program but growing stronger every year.
We understand that many high school students are now required to accumulate community service hours to graduate.
If you are accepted into the program and complete a week of camp, you will receive 45 hours of community service, leadership training, educational awareness, and an experience of a lifetime.
