1. Does my son or daughter need to know how to swim?
Sailing or swimming experience is not necessary. We are able to work with participants of all experience levels. You will however be required to swim 75 feet in a life jacket.
2.How old do my children have to be?
All participants must be between the ages of 15 - 17.
3. Can all my children particpate in the same week?
We take every measure possible to accommodate your needs, but unfortunately because of space llimitations, we can not guarantee that your child will be able to participate with other siblings.
4. Does UniCamp offer pricate lessons?
Unfortunately we do not operate as a year round camp and can not provide private lessons.
5. I am from another camp, would it be possible to take our campers sailing?
Yes, we do offer sailing trips for other camps in the area. Please contact the office for more information.
6. Where are you located?
Our rustic camp site is nestled in the San Bernardino Mountains near Barton Flats. We will be sailing at Big Bear Lake, which is a 45 minute drive from our camp site.
7. Who will be driving?
Our advisors are extensively trained in driving from the camp site to Big Bear Lake. Every driver is required to have a valid drivers license and go through our driving training program. Additionally, our staff members perform a daily maintenance check on each vehicle.
8. How much does SAIL cost?
The true cost of a week of UniCamp is approximately $550 per individual. Fortunately through fundraising efforts by all of our volunteers, the cost for a week of camp for each camper is only $75. This includes transportation, housing, food and all sailing time and equipment.
9. How can I help continue the program?
You can assist the program with boat donations, donations in-kind, making a personal monetary donation, providing corporate sponsorships, or by attending fundraising events.
