Camp-A-Thon

The Camp-a-Thon is UCLA UniCamp’s largest student fundraiser. Participants camp out at UCLA’s Sunset Recreation Center over a weekend during the spring and ask their friends and family to sponsor them for the hours they spend camping out, much like a typical walk-a-thon.

Started in 2003, the Camp-a-thon is a chance for volunteers from one session to meet and interact with volunteers from other sessions. The weekend is packed with optional training, team building games, all camp activities and other fun challenges that foster team building and friendly competition all in a fun environment. The Camp-a-thon is a chance for new Woodsey’s to experience a little taste of what camp will be like and it also allows old Woodsey’s to relive their camp memories.

In addition to the social aspects this event offers, at the heart of the event are its roots as a fundraiser. The Camp-a-thon raised $14,000 in its inaugural year and the students have increased that amount every year. In 2009 the students ended their “Kids 2 Camp” campaign raising a little over $210,000.
The Camp-a-Thon offers a unique opportunity for Alumni to experience the energy of the current student volunteers. Saturday evening concludes in one of the best campfires you will ever see. If you are interested in stopping by the Camp-a-thon please contact Jason “Mr.Woooo” Liou @ jliou@unicamp.org
