Leadership“A pessimist sees a glass of water as being half empty; an optimist sees is as half full. But a giving person sees the glass and starts looking for someone who might be thirsty.” – G. Donald Gale The only way UniCamp is able to manage nearly 500 student volunteers is to have a small group of dedicated “Old Woodsey’s” who begin training before Winter Quarter starts. This group ends up volunteering almost twice as many hours training, planning, fund-raising and organizing than do our normal student volunteers.Leadership is responsible for taking all the knowledge they have accumulated from having gone through the program before and teaching it to the future generations of volunteers. Our leadership training is modified from the American Camp Association’s Basic Camp Directors Course and covers topics such as: Programming, Risk Management, Group Development, Presentation Techniques, Campsite Management and many other essential topics.
