Student Volunteerism

“Volunteers are not paid – not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless”

On April 21, 2009 President Barack Obama signed a $5.7 billion national service bill that triples the size of the AmeriCorps program over the next eight years. He has also challenged the American public to answer his call and give back to the nation.
“I’m asking you to help change history’s course… And if you do, I promise you your life will be richer, our country will be stronger, and someday, years from now, you may remember it as the moment when your own story and the American story converged, when they came together, and we met the challenges of our new century.”
It’s hard for students to give back through monetary contributions. Let’s face it; most college students eat instant ramen and frozen burritos for a majority of their meals, that’s why volunteering is the perfect way for students to answer the call.

“All that’s required on your part is a willingness to make a difference, and that is, after all, the beauty of service: Anybody can do it.” – Barack Obama
UCLA UniCamp was created by student volunteers who had a vision and a desire to make an impact on someone else’s life. Student Volunteers have kept this program running for the past 75 years and today volunteers are still the backbone of UniCamp. If you decide UniCamp is a cause that you would like to be a part up we encourage you to be a part of the next 75 years of UniCamp Student Volunteers.
