What Are Family Camps?![]() UCLA UniCamp is such a unique experience that people who go through the program usually have a difficult time telling others about it. The words “magic” or “special” always come to mind but they do very little to describe what happens at camp. A few years ago we started tracking down alumni for the 75th anniversary celebrations and in doing so we began hearing a lot of people ask if there was any way that they could send their kids to camp. At first the immediate answer was always “No, your kids don’t qualify for camp.” Eventually we began to understand that our alumni didn’t want to send their kids to camp because it was a cheap alternative to a vacation, we began to understand that what they wanted was to share the UniCamp experience with their friends and family, those people that they loved. In order to offer a chance for people to bring their loved ones to camp and share the UniCamp experience with them we began offering Family Camps. Family Camps are short getaways (usually weekends) where a group can come up to camp and experience a little bit of “Woodsey Magic.” Instead of the traditional cabin groups with counselors, each family that comes up to camp shares a cabin and throughout the day there will be activities hosted by program specialists. Normal camp rotations such as: Archery, Pool, Fishing, Arts & Crafts, Rec, Climbing, etc will all be available throughout the weekend. Family Camps are a perfect opportunity for you to allow your loved ones to see what camp is like and be a part of the experience also. Interested in Attending a Family Camp? |
