UniCorps - The Program

The UniCorps program is rooted in the belief that service learning and giving back to your community is fundamental in the development of today's campers.

This volunteer opportunity is a chance for a high school aged campers to have an experiential education, where they will be taught by UCLA student volunteers that there is "gaining in giving", as they themselves have learned at UCLA. They will be involved in college life and interact with college students to provide an environment conducive to learning for the younger campers. This is a great resume builder, in which half of the participant's day is learning skills transferable to the work place and the other half is filled with fun activities. This is a service-learning program in which UniCorps members will assist on-site staff in pre-meal setup, post-meal cleanup, lodge cleanup, as well as breaking down the lodge for programs that will be run during the evening. Participants will assist the campers in cleaning showers and restrooms, as well as keeping the campsite clean.

In addition to the above duties, UniCorps volunteers will assist in providing a memorable camping experience for the younger campers by running initiative games and workshops. UniCorps participants will experience leadership opportunities as well as recreational activities such as rock climbing, night hikes, extended pool times, splash in movies, day trips to the lake, and sleeping under the stars.
