The Hike/ Program

W.A.L.L. stands for Wilderness Adventures in Leadership and Learning. This leadership learning program teaches participants the importance of teamwork and perseverance throughout a physically and mentally demanding 4 day, 26 mile hike that reaches altitudes of 11,500 feet. Participants are given responsibilities during the hike that help them build leadership skills and they also learn outdoor survival skills. Upon returning from the hike, these campers use their newly acquired skills in mentoring the younger campers and serving as role models.

During the journey, each camper is responsible for carrying their own gear as well as some items necessary gear for the group. Each group consists of a trained WFR (Wilderness First Aid Responder) guide, two UniCamp leaders and nine campers. While away on the hike, these groups prepare their own food using portable stoves and sleep in tents that they will learn to construct. As there are no bathrooms along the trail, campers will be required to use natural facilities. Each group contacts the main site once a day to report their progress.

For over 20 years, WALL has been in the business of empowering campers both young and old to dream big and to conquer insurmountable goals. Through physical challenge and adventure we strive for change and growth from within.
